ZONES / PRIVACY
Your windows.
Your Mac.
Zones keeps your windows, documents and layouts on your Mac. It does not record your screen or collect usage analytics.
Window control
Zones uses macOS Accessibility to identify, move and resize windows. It observes dragging and responds to your shortcuts. It does not save what you type in other apps. You can revoke permission in System Settings.
Local data
Layouts, display assignments, settings and setup progress are stored locally. Saved desks also retain selected app names, window titles, document addresses when available, display identifiers and window positions so Zones can match your open windows later. This data is not uploaded.
Updates
Zones uses Sparkle to check GitHub for signed updates. Requests include your IP address and basic request information such as the app version. Optional system profiling is disabled. You choose when to install updates, and can turn automatic checks off in Settings → Advanced.
Paid licences
The planned paid release uses Lemon Squeezy to process payments and validate licences. Activation sends your licence key and a device label made from the Mac model and a short one way hardware identifier code. Later checks send the key and activation ID. Windows, documents and layouts are never included. Your key is stored in the macOS Keychain. Zones does not receive payment card details.
